Using Quackdex

Terms of service

Effective September 20, 2026

These terms describe use of Quackdex, a read-only index of Google Contacts. By using Quackdex, you agree to use it lawfully and to follow these terms.

The service

Quackdex imports Google Contacts into a private local index so the configured owner can search contact values and inspect their provenance. Google Contacts remains read-only: Quackdex does not change, delete, merge, or write back to Google Contacts.

Google authorization

You must use a Google account that you own or are authorized to use. The service accepts only the configured owner account. You are responsible for reviewing Google's consent screen and for keeping your Google account and application credentials secure.

Acceptable use

You may not use Quackdex to:

Your data and third-party services

You retain your rights to the Google data you authorize Quackdex to read. Google services remain subject to Google's own terms and policies. Quackdex may depend on hosting, database, and other infrastructure providers to operate the service.

See the Privacy policy for details on data access, storage, sharing, retention, and local reset behavior.

Availability and changes

Quackdex is provided as an evolving personal service. Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. The service does not replace Google Contacts, an export, a backup, or a professional records-management system.

Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Quackdex is provided without a promise that it will always be available, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. You are responsible for retaining any independent backup or source record that you need.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when the service changes. Continued use after an updated effective date means you accept the updated terms.
